WENDY SILVERMAN, PRINCIPAL
For more than 30 years Wendy has been involved in the planning, merchandising, development and leasing of more than two dozen shopping centers and mixed- use developments located in the US and internationally as well. During her career in upscale retail Wendy successfully negotiated and leased space in high profile properties such as Copley Place, Boston MA, Water Tower Place, Chicago, IL, Century City, Los Angeles, CA, San Francisco Center CA, 900 N. Michigan, Chicago, IL, Brookfield Place, New York, NY, and The Shops at The Bravern, Bellevue, WA. Upon exiting the corporate world in 2002, Wendy formed her own independent company: Creative Retail Leasing, LLC (“CRL”).
FEASIBILITY STUDIES
As indicated previously, Wendy has consulted on a variety of projects throughout the world. More recently, CRL has performed surveys in the US for several developers regarding their potential retail developments. In assisting two CRL clients, Wendy’s investigation and research enabled CRL to advise the owners against proceeding with further plans and/or a restructure of the project altogether. CRL’s work saved both clients substantial architectural/pre-construction costs and expenses. These matters just arose prior to the economic meltdown. The owner/developers avoided construction of a project which at best would be difficult to lease or at worst not leasable under any circumstances.
CRL continues to advise and assist ownership/ management in the re-structuring of existing centers and malls, including altering the tenant mix, decisions on renewals or seeking out a more viable tenant grouping. CRL has enjoyed long standing relationships and successfully obtained leases with, to name just a few: Louis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus, Mont Blanc, Gucci, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Tiffany’s, Jimmy Choo, and Bottega Veneta. Wendy has also consulted on existing and prospective projects in Europe and the Pacific Rim.
